History

Although there was a mill on this site that is mentioned in the Doomsday book, little of the original structure, if any, now remains. Most of the current building dates from around 1800, although the south-west part is probably earlier and records can trace the names of millers as far back as 1679.

The overshot wheel is still present in what remains of the latest mill leat on the north-east side of the building. This originally connected with a mill pond on the opposite side of the lane, although this is no longer in existence.

Within the building many original features can still be seen, including two pairs of French burr mill stones and the crown wheel in what is now the sitting room. Unfortunately the mill had been disused and had fallen into serious disrepair, making it impossible to restore it to working order.
